Big changes can be stressful! Whether you’re considering a career shift, getting married, adjusting to parenthood, experiencing health issues – or generally feeling lost and knowing something needs to change – we can work together to help you navigate these transitions. 

 

Traumatic Experiences

I understand how difficult it can be to explore traumatic experiences in therapy which is why my approach to treating trauma is simple: We go at your pace. We begin by helping you cultivate effective coping skills so that when you decide you’re ready to explore your story, you feel equipped to do so. This work can be tough, but so are you. And I’m right by your side every step of the way.

 

Stress

DC is a fast-paced, Type A city that can leave many of us feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, and exhausted. We’re trying to fit in work, spend time with friends and family, exercise, drink 8 glasses of water, go on dates, take care of our mental health…

Let’s face it - this juggling act can feel impossible at times. We can work together to help you find balance in your life, manage stress effectively, and identify what you value so that you can lead a life that’s in line with what’s most important to you.

 

Mood Disorders

So many of us struggle with mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, that can impact our quality of life. We will work together to help you find effective coping techniques…but it won’t simply stop there (because that would be like putting a band-aid on a broken leg). I believe therapy is most effective when we uncover the root issues that are causing you to struggle and figure out what you need in order to truly heal.

 

Identity Concerns

Figuring ourselves out can be quite the process. Perhaps you’ve been wanting to:

  • Explore gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs

  • Build your self-confidence

  • Figure out who you are in the context of your role as a parent, caretaker, newly single person, manager, etc.

  • Understand yourself better and have more insight into what you value

Relationship Issues

Whether you’ve been together for 5 months or 50 years, relationship issues can be distressing and take a toll on one’s wellbeing. I help couples learn to communicate more effectively and identify the root issues of their frustrations with their partner (let’s be real - it’s never really about the fact that they didn’t take out the trash).
