Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy?

Therapy is a space where you feel heard, deeply understood, and safe to be yourself. Therapy can be challenging - it’s not always easy to talk about the hard stuff in our lives - but I’m right there with you every step of the way.

What is a session like?

I like to describe my process as having “one foot in and one foot out.”

What do I mean by this?

I have “one foot in”  in the sense that I am right there with you, present with your emotions, seeking to deeply understand your experiences, while also keeping “one foot out”  so that I’m able to offer new perspectives and help you through your struggles.

Do I need to have serious problems to benefit from therapy?

Nope! People seek out therapy for a variety of reasons. Some might want help with sadness or anxiety - some may want to figure out why they keep repeating the same, unhelpful patterns - and some people benefit from simply having a non-judgmental, confidential place to talk about what’s going on in their lives.

Is therapy right for me?

If you are a human being, then yes, therapy is right for you! I am a firm believer that everybody can benefit from therapy, but it is important to work with a therapist who is a good match for you.

Do I have to come in every week?

Most of my clients attend weekly or biweekly sessions. We will determine the frequency of our sessions based on your needs, finances, and availability. If you think less frequent sessions would be right for you, I always recommend that we meet once per week for the first 3 sessions in order to build momentum.

Do you accept insurance?

I am considered “out of network” with insurance plans. If you have out of network benefits, I can give you receipts to submit for reimbursement. If you’d like to check your coverage, you can give your insurance provider the following procedure (CPT) codes: 90834 (individual psychotherapy) or 90847 (family/couples counseling).

How long are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. Couples sessions are typically 80 minutes (the extra time is very helpful when there are two people in the room!), but also offered as a 50 minute session.

Do you offer in-person or virtual services?

Currently, I am only offering virtual teletherapy sessions.
